Our goal in UConn School of Business Global Business Programs Office is to develop unique and impactful programs with an interdisciplinary focus on culture and international business that reach a wide and diverse audience. In order to achieve this goal, part of GBP’s mission is outreach to the business community on a local and regional level to enable them to enhance their growth in today’s global economy. We do this primarily by training and preparing quality students to meet the needs of SMEs as well as larger companies. We also partner with state and federal institutions to increase the impact on our campus and community alike.
Some of the programs offered that assist businesses are:
Export Documentation Basics Workshops. Offered in collaboration with the Connecticut District Export Council (CTDEC) and the U.S. Commercial Service, this 1-day workshop provides information and support for companies beginning their exporting journey. The next event is TBD.
Export Professional Development Program for business students. This program is ongoing and trains students in the basics of export knowledge, export logistics, marketing research, and compliance. The intent is to help prepare students to assist companies entering the export arena, preferable as interns or new employees. For information on how to hire student participants in this program, please contact Arminda Kamphausen, Associate Director at arminda.kamphausen@uconn.edu or Anthony Sargis, International Trade Specialist at U.S. Commerce at Anthony.Sargis@trade.gov.
