Bryan Dougherty was commissioned into the US Army Officer corps in 2004, serving in the Military Police and Civil Affairs branches. He was stationed at Fort Stewart and Fort Liberty (formerly Ft. Bragg), deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq as part of the Global War on Terrorism campaign and held the roles of platoon leader, executive officer, assistant operations officer, and Team Leader. Bryan left active duty in 2013 and moved to Connecticut where he began working at Sikorsky Aircraft, a Lockheed Martin Company, while continuing to serve part-time in the Connecticut Army National Guard.

While at Sikorsky, Bryan held roles in project & program management, where he managed cost and schedule for the development, testing and production of CH-53K aircraft. His last role at Sikorsky, was working in Program Operations, where he was an Operations liaison with the Sikorsky Maritime program who coordinated aftermarket activities for the US Navy, Coast Guard and International Maritime customers. During his time in overseas service, Bryan came to realize the importance of energy security and accelerated climate change, which built a desire to work in the renewable energy space. Bryan left Sikorsky in 2022 after landing a role with Danish Renewable Energy Company, Orsted.

Bryan currently serves as the Operations Readiness project manager for Orsted’s Northeast offshore wind portfolio, ensuring that subject matter expertise, service level agreements, physical and digital infrastructure are in place to operate the wind farms for the next 35 years. The first project, Southfork Wind, is mobilizing out of the New London State Pier and will be fully operational by the end of 2023. By 2026, Orsted will have installed over 161 offshore wind turbines producing 1.7 Gigawatts of power.

Bryan continues to serve part-time in the Connecticut Army National Guard, nearing 20 years of service, and currently a Lieutenant Colonel working in the 85th Troop Command.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy (BS – 2004), and graduate degrees from Pennsylvania State University (MPS – 2012) and the University of Connecticut (MBA – 2017).

Bryan lives in Newtown, CT with his wife, Sarah, children Lillie (8) and Charlie (4) and dog Max. He enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, physical fitness, coaching his daughter’s lacrosse team and volunteering.
